Guest policy
A guest is defined as anyone who does not reside in student housing. Overnight guests must be approved by Wellmont Health System’s office of medical education prior to the visit.
If a student’s comfort or sense of privacy is violated by an unwelcome visitor, he or she may request the guest leave. If the student cannot successfully resolve the matter, contact the Mountain View Regional maintenance department or the local police department.
Health and safety
Hallways, stairwells, doorways, elevators, emergency exits and entryways must be clear at all times.
Access to facility
Identification cards will be distributed to students at the beginning of the academic year. These cards will be used to gain access to student housing.
Pets
Pets are not permitted.
Quiet hours
Every student has the right to study, learn and live in a quiet, comfortable setting. Residents must be considerate of neighbors and mindful of noise levels at all times. Residents are directly responsible for controlling their own noise level as well as that of their guests. Never assume that if you have not been confronted that the noise level is acceptable.
At all times, the following rules apply:
- Loud music or other noise that can be heard beyond the limits of an individual’s room is never acceptable.
- Any type of sports or sports-related activities or horse-playing is prohibited at all times.
- Quiet hours are Sunday-Thursday from 11 p.m.-8 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 1-10 a.m.
- Courtesy hours, when a resident may request that noise be reduced, are in effect at all times.
- It is the responsibility of all occupants to enforce and adhere to quiet hours and courtesy hours. Cooperation is essential.
Smoking and tobacco use
All Wellmont Health System facilities are tobacco-free environments.
Alcohol use
Alcohol is not permitted in or around the premises.
Room inspection
Rooms may be inspected for health, safety and security reasons on a periodic basis with or without notice or presence of the occupant.
During routine inspections, the standards for the maintenance of rooms and furniture will be evaluated and the occupant may be required to remove, correct or make other necessary changes. Prohibited items may be confiscated.
Occupants of rooms that are not found to be in acceptable condition may be charged a fee to cover cleaning costs. Additionally, if unacceptable damage or loss occurs, a student may be asked to seek other housing.
During an inspection, if an unusual situation arises or if there is suspicion of illegal use of the room (i.e. to store stolen goods, liquor or drugs), the situation will be reported to administration and the situation may result in judicial referral.
Grades and/or evaluations may be held pending final room inspections.
Mountain View Regional Medical Center or an official of the program reserves the right to vacate any person at any time for any cause at will.
