By donating blood, you can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life – possibly multiple “someones.”
As many as three lives can be saved every time you donate blood.
Marsh Regional Blood Center encourages you to give here in your local community. The blood you donate through Marsh is used to meet local needs. So when you, your family, friends or neighbors need blood it will come from local Marsh donors.
That’s why Marsh’s mantra is “Give here. Help here.”
For almost 70 years, Marsh Regional has been the largest hometown supplier of blood and blood products in Northeast TN and Southwest VA.
It all started when Marsh established the area’s first hospital-based blood bank in Kingsport in 1947. Since then, Marsh’s mission has been to collect and maintain blood supplies for this community.
Marsh Regional has steadily grown and today supplies 16 medical facilities and 4 cancer centers, all being located in Northeast Tenn. and Southwest Va. It is the sole provider of blood to Bristol, Sullivan and Carter Counties in Tenn. and several counties in Virginia.
To donate blood to Marsh Regional you must be:
If you have a cold, sore throat, fever, flu or fever blisters or taking antibiotics, you won’t be able to donate.

One platelet donation contains 8 to 10 times more platelets than a regular blood donation.
Because platelets can be used for transfusion for only five days after donation, there is a continuous need for donors.
And since your body replaces them within 24 hours, you can donate platelets every 72 hours – as many as 24 times each year.
