In accordance with our policy and procedures, all news media professionals must
contact the marketing communications department before speaking with Wellmont

11/19/15 - For veterans in our area, Wellmont Health System is meeting their health needs as an approved provider for the Veterans Choice Program, which enables veterans to see health care providers not employed by the V.A.
11/18/15 - On Dec. 4, 2015, the annual Night of Holiday Miracles will be held at MeadowView Convention Center. Proceeds will help provide new services and create an expanded NICU at Holston Valley Medical Center.
11/17/15 - Lonesome Pine Hospital is building on decades of success with the opening of an intensive care unit, which provides another level of service to Big Stone Gap and the rest of Wise County.
11/5/15 - To educate caregivers and the public about the dangers of antibiotic overuse, Wellmont Health System and Mountain States Health Alliance are partnering with other regional health organizations as part of the National Strategy to Combat Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria.
11/3/15 - Patients who need care fast can now visit the new Wellmont Urgent Care at Exit 7 in Bristol, Va. In addition to treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, patients can also go to the urgent care center for flu shots and lab work.

When a patient is considered a “news patient,” the patient’s
general condition (one-word description) may be made available to the media. Information
regarding the patient’s condition will only be released when the reporter
supplies the patient’s full name. Mass casualty cases may be an exception.
If the patient is a minor (younger than 18), no information will be released
without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
