    Fred Pelle, a highly respected 30-year health care veteran and president of Wellmont Health System’s community hospital division, has been named vice president and chief operating officer of Holston Valley Medical Center.

    Bart Hove, Wellmont Health System’s interim president and chief executive officer, was recently elected to the Tennessee Hospital Association’s board of directors. Hove brings 37 years of service in health care to the table as he begins his tenure.

    Alice Pope Selected By National Publication As Part Of Elite Group Of Health Care Professionals To Know

    Alice Pope, Wellmont Health System's executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been named by a national publication as one of 130 female hospital and health system leaders to know. Becker's Hospital Review, which writes about business and legal information for health care industry leaders, recently named Pope to the list. She is the only leader from the region to be selected.

    Bristol Regional And Holston Valley Receive Highest Safety Scores Among Tertiary Hospitals In Region

    Wellmont Health System's two largest hospitals scored the highest among the region's tertiary hospitals in the latest safety rankings from a national nonprofit organization. Bristol Regional Medical Center received an "A" and Holston Valley Medical Center received a "B" in the fall Hospital Safety Score ratings from the Leapfrog Group. Scores are based on an evaluation of 28 measures that cover organizational structure and medical care.

    Work Continues On Strategic Options Evaluation; Process Expected To Extend Into New Year

    Work by Wellmont Health System’s board of directors is enabling the group to fully explore the organization's best path forward. Board chairman Roger Leonard said the panel continues its examination of Wellmont’s options, a process that will likely extend into the new year.

    How can I obtain the condition of a patient in a Wellmont Health System hospital?

    When a patient is considered a “news patient,” the patient’s general condition (one-word description) may be made available to the media. Information regarding the patient’s condition will only be released when the reporter supplies the patient’s full name. Mass casualty cases may be an exception.

    If the patient is a minor (younger than 18), no information will be released without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
