All news media professionals must contact marketing communications before speaking with Wellmont physicians or other co-workers and before visiting our facilities.
When a patient is considered a “news patient,” the patient’s general condition (one-word description) may be made available to the media. Information regarding the patient’s condition will only be released when the reporter supplies the patient’s full name. Mass casualty cases may be an exception.

If the patient is a minor (younger than 18), no information will be released without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

The marketing communications department is staffed from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Media representatives who need to reach us after business hours should call (423) 306-1702.
