• Screening for Ovarian Cancer

    The purpose of screening is early diagnosis and treatment. Screening tests are usually administered to people without current symptoms, but who may be at high risk for certain diseases or conditions.

    Screening Guidelines

    At this time, there are no current screening guidelines or tests for ovarian cancer. However, if you have any risk factors for ovarian cancer, your doctor will want to discuss them with you to help reduce your risk. In certain cases, your doctor may check for the possibility of cancer in the ovaries. Examples of those with higher than average risk of ovarian cancer include a family history or specific genetic abnormalities.
    Possible tests for those with high risk include:
    Talk to your doctor about your ovarian cancer risk and any tests you may need.
