In its 2017 rankings, hospital quality ratings organization CareChex® ranked Holston Valley Medical Center as No. 1 in the country in the medical excellence category for
interventional carotid care.
This is the second consecutive year Holston Valley has received this honor, which we also received in 2012.
Also for 2017, CareChex ranked Holston Valley among the top 100 hospitals in the country for medical excellence in
Holston Valley is rated by CareChex among the leading hospitals – actually in the top 10 percent nationwide – for medical excellence in orthopedic surgery and women’s health as well.
In all these areas – neurological care, women’s health, interventional carotid care – as well as cancer care, Holston Valley tops the Tri-Cities region for medical excellence, according to CareChex.
In addition to being highly rated for interventional carotid care, Holston Valley has also been recognized for providing superior treatment for heart attack patients.
Holston Valley received gold plus recognition in the Mission: Lifeline program, which was created by the American Heart Association.
Hospitals involved in Mission: Lifeline are part of a system that is designed to improve ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (also called STEMI heart attack) and cardiac resuscitation care systems and to ensure STEMI patients get the highest level of care as quickly as possible.
To earn the Mission: Lifeline Gold Plus Award, the hospital achieved 85 percent or higher adherence to the program's quality indicators for 24 straight months.
For maintaining consistently high standards in heart attack treatment, Holston Valley recently earned the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry – Get With The Guidelines Platinum Performance Achievement Award.
To earn this recognition, Holston Valley followed required treatment guidelines for twelve consecutive quarters. During that time, we also had to meet at least a 90 percent standard for the clinical guidelines and recommendations set by both the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association.
