GliaSite Radiation Therapy
The GliaSite Radiation Therapy System is one of the most promising therapies for the treatment of brain cancer introduced in the last ten years. The system is designed for the treatment of newly diagnosed, metastatic and recurrent brain tumors and delivers radiation from within the cavity created by the surgical removal of the tumor.
Until now, internal radiation therapy was known to be effective, but very difficult to perform, with significant patient complications. GliaSite maximizes the benefits of internal radiotherapy while minimizing the disadvantages. The system enables physicians to offer internal radiation therapy to more patients than ever before.
Physicians at Bristol Regional Medical Center and Holston Valley Medical Center provide Gliasite to brain cancer patients.
