Diabetes Treatment
If you’re diabetic, you require special attention when undergoing surgery or treatment for another ailment. Our inpatient services involve monitoring your health very closely so you can heal as quickly as possible, while our outpatient services help to ensure continued wellness through education.
Inpatient Services
Diabetic patients can rely on the following inpatient services and support:
- Daily chart audits to ensure proper blood glucose control
- Monitoring and support by the diabetes care team
- Individualized disease management counseling
- “Survival Skills Notebook” to help you understand the disease and learn new ways to manage it
- Access to other specialists who can address special diabetes-related complications such as vision and circulation problems, heart disease and higher risk of stroke
- Access to our outpatient program after discharge
Outpatient Services
The Diabetes Self-Management Program is a six-hour, physician-referred class for you and any family members or loved ones who would like to participate. We’ll teach you how to manage the disease through nutrition, lifestyle changes, exercise and, if appropriate, proper use of medication. You’ll find out why certain standards of care are so important, like having your blood glucose level, eyes and feet checked regularly. Class participants also learn about the long-term complications of diabetes. After the course, you remain in the program for one year, which gives you free access to the many resources at our Diabetes Treatment Center.
