Dartmouth Atlas Project
The Dartmouth
Atlas Project, conducted by The Dartmouth Atlas of Health
Care, which is based at The
Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice, uses Medicare
data to provide information and analysis for national, regional and local markets, as well as hospitals and their affiliated physicians.
This research helps policymakers, media, healthcare analysts and consumers improve their understanding of the healthcare system and forms the foundation for many
ongoing efforts to improve health care and health systems across the nation.
Quality criteria
By comparing Medicare Part A spending, reasonable conclusions about the cost-efficient delivery of medical care can be reached. These factors are important because
cardiac spending accounts for 25 percent of all Medicare Part A spending.
