Cancer Clinical Trials and Research

As part of our commitment to innovation, the Regional Cancer Network provides eligible patients with opportunities to participate in a variety of clinical trials that could lead to new treatments or, ultimately, a cure for cancer. Nationally, more than 1,000 trials for new cancer treatments are underway. New combinations of approved drugs—as well as new techniques, approaches and medications—are tested daily. Wellmont puts patient safety first, so these trials are carefully monitored. If a problem arises, the trial can be altered or stopped, and a patient may withdraw from a trial at any time.

Should you participate?
Clinical trials are not just a vital source of information for the medical community—they can also be of great value to you, the participant. But clinical trials are not for everyone. Eligibility requirements vary for each trial, and your prognosis and personal situation may also influence your decision to participate.
