One of the best ways to fight cancer is to raise awareness of cancer and cancer research. That’s why the partnership between the Regional Cancer Network and community organizations is so important. Physicians, clinicians, administrators and support-group members participate each year in events like Race for the Cure—sponsored locally by the Tri-Cities affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Cancer Advisory Councils
Cancer Advisory Councils keep our cancer centers on the forefront of oncology care by collecting input from community members, reviewing cancer center activities and making recommendations about programming needs. In fact, without the councils’ strong volunteer leadership, the Annual Cancer Suvivor’s Day Celebration of Life wouldn’t be possible. Cancer Advisory Councils also participate in health fairs, cancer screenings and other community-awareness programs.
