The maze of cancer care can be difficult to navigate. At the Regional Cancer Network, you are supported by cancer specialists and medical experts who stand ready to answer your questions and address your concerns.
The Regional Cancer Center’s board-certified oncologists are supported by an elite group of oncology nursing specialists who have received training in the management of breast and lung cancers. These “patient navigators” talk with you and your family from the minute you are diagnosed until your treatment is completed. Patient navigators help you through the maze of doctors’ offices, outpatient centers, insurance systems and other components of the healthcare system. They are there to answer your questions, explain your treatment, serve as a physician liaison and be a source of comfort and support when you need it most.
Multi-disciplinary Treatment Planning Conferences meet regularly within the Regional Cancer Network to determine the optimal plan of care for newly diagnosed cancer patients. A multi-disciplinary team of board-certified physicians, genetics experts and oncology nurses meets weekly to provide input from all treatment disciplines. These reviews help ensure timely delivery of quality cancer care.
The Tumor Board, made up of board-certified, multi-disciplinary physicians studies select cancer cases and reviews the best treatment options for the patient. Patients can rest assured they are receiving the best cancer care based on the opinions of the Regional Network’s combined resources.
The Cancer Registry is a data collection system of all newly diagnosed cancer patients as well as those with metastatic and recurrent disease. The system is designed to improve cancer management by collecting, organizing and interpreting cancer data. An abstract on each patient provides demographic information, the nature of the cancer, extent of disease and types of treatment. These patients are followed annually for life.
