David Brash Re-Elected to Board of Directors of Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association
David Brash, Wellmont Health System’s senior vice president of business development and rural strategy, has been re-elected for a two-year term on the
Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association’s board of directors.
The association is an alliance of hospitals and health delivery systems that develops and advocates healthcare policy for the commonwealth. With a mission to improve the health status of the communities it serves, the organization participates in the crafting of laws, regulations and guidelines that impact hospitals, health systems and patients.
“David has been an important voice for Southwest Virginia by providing valuable input into the decision-making process,” said Denny DeNarvaez, Wellmont’s president and CEO. “With his extensive experience in the region, David is attuned to the needs of our patients and the issues that influence our delivery of high-quality care. We appreciate his service to the commonwealth.”
Brash said it is a privilege to represent Wellmont and help ensure Virginians receive a high level of care.
“As we face unprecedented changes in healthcare reform, we are working hard to ensure as many people as possible receive the care they need,” Brash said. “We are focused on educating legislators about the benefit of Medicaid expansion to ensure the quality of life in Southwest Virginia remains high. It’s part of a broader effort by the association, shared by Wellmont, to provide the infrastructure for the best health possible for patients.”
Brash is a Lebanon, Va., resident who previously served as Wellmont’s regional vice president in Virginia and as president of
Mountain View Regional Medical Center and
Lonesome Pine Hospital.
In addition to the two hospitals, Wellmont’s presence in the commonwealth includes the
Southwest Virginia Cancer Center, multiple offices for the
Wellmont CVA Heart Institute and primary care, pulmonology, pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology services. The health system also has
Wellmont Urgent Care and sleep centers that showcase the breadth of care it provides the region.
“Wellmont is heavily invested in Southwest Virginia and is grateful for the opportunity to serve the patients who entrust us with their care,” Brash said. “We are committed to further developing a sustainable model of care and helping residents when they are sick and giving them the tools they need to stay well.”
