Wexford House Accredited By National Organization For Its Focus On Residents’ Quality Of Life

KINGSPORT – Wexford House, which delivers high-caliber skilled nursing to residents of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, was recently accredited by a national organization for its focus on its residents’ quality of life.

The facility earned a Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Accreditation from Providigm, a Denver-based organization that creates quality improvement solutions for health care. Wexford House is one of 41 facilities in Tennessee to receive this designation.

Accreditation with Providigm means Wexford House constantly assesses its residents’ quality of life on matters such as pain, dignity and respect for residents’ choice. This review also involves quality of care matters pertaining to staffing, infections, rehabilitation, weight loss and prevention of hospital readmissions.

Kathy Green, Wexford House’s executive director, said the hard work and diligence of the facility’s co-workers made this achievement possible.

“This is an extremely important accreditation because its principles reflect the direction long-term care is headed in the nation,” Green said. “It also illustrates our facility’s commitment to quality, nonstop improvement and customer satisfaction for our residents and their families. Our staff members deserve a lot of credit for creating an environment of outstanding care for our residents.”

Wexford House is a 174-bed facility located at 2421 N. John B. Dennis Highway that provides respiratory services, hospice, skilled nursing care and short-term stays. Other care includes inpatient and outpatient physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy.

Wexford House joined Wellmont Health System in December, contributing to the continuum of care for which Wellmont excels. It also enhanced the seamless transition of patients from one healthcare setting to another while retaining the same level of quality.
