Three Wellmont Health System facilities have earned 2017 Excellence through Insight® Awards from HealthStream Performance Center for attaining greater organizational excellence in service provision and quality of care.
Wexford House received the Most Improved Overall Employee Satisfaction & Engagement award for a facility with fewer than 250 employees. This comprehensive skilled nursing facility experienced the highest improvement in employee satisfaction scores from 2015 to 2016.
Wellmont also received two Unit Specific Awards for
Holston Valley Medical Center’s Comprehensive Breast Center and
Wellmont Urgent Care in Gray. The Comprehensive Breast Center received an award in Outpatient – Women’s Health, and Wellmont Urgent Care was honored in the Urgent Care category.
All three facilities were recognized as top of their class for patient experience and providing the highest standards to benefit patients and the facilities. They were also honored for impacting how the community perceives and values health care.
“Receiving this national recognition shows we continue to improve the quality of health care as we further develop the strengths of our co-workers,” said Hamlin Wilson, Wellmont’s senior vice president of human resources. “We focus on achieving national benchmarks and continuously look for innovative approaches that ensure our patients receive optimal care. We are grateful a well-respected organization such as HealthStream has honored our commitment to exceptional care.”
Wellmont has used the HealthStream health care-based performance management tool since 2012 because it incorporates competency management with learning and performance management. The process helps identify innovative programs and leadership that support organizational excellence, workforce development, patient satisfaction, employee engagement and positive community perception.
Wellmont co-workers have online access to their performance reviews and can document events or attach recognition of training or merit. Another important internal element of HealthStream is its ability to provide the health system with feedback from patients and the community. They can share how well the hospital system provides medical services in an environment of safety, comfort, hope and care.
“It is essential to us to have a high level of customer service, and with HealthStream we can evaluate how we meet the expectations of our patients and the community,” said Vickie Boatman, Wellmont’s director of organizational development. “The awards we have received from HealthStream show we are headed in the right direction, and we will continue to review our methods to ensure we take the quality of our care to the next level.”
