Wellmont Urgent Care, Occupational Medicine Opening Monday, Feb. 25, On Stone Drive In Kingsport

Wellmont Health System's compassionate delivery of urgent care services is expanding to Kingsport on Monday, Feb. 25, giving the community another option for many of their basic healthcare needs.

The same day, Wellmont Occupational Medicine in Kingsport, which is part of Wellmont Business Health Solutions, will relocate from the emergency department at Holston Valley Medical Center and be housed adjacent to the urgent care facility. This will provide clients with easier access, ample parking and extended hours.

Wellmont Urgent Care and Wellmont Occupational Medicine will be located at 111 W. Stone Drive, Suite 110, in the space previously occupied by Dr. Marta Wayt and Dr. Jennifer Peters. These two Wellmont Medical Associates primary care physicians are relocating to the building's second floor in the Holston Valley Outpatient Center on the Eastman Outpatient Campus.

Physicians at the urgent care facility will treat a variety of illnesses and injuries - from bumps and bruises to sprains and strains. Patients can receive X-rays and complete lab work from a cross section of innovative caregivers. Additional imaging services are available next door at the Holston Valley Imaging Center.

"We're thrilled to add high-quality urgent care to our robust healthcare service delivery in Kingsport and look forward to helping our patients in additional ways," said Dr. William Kyle, a board-certified physician, who, along with Dr. Alex Buhr, will serve as a full-time physician at the center. "We have developed a successful model of urgent care in other communities and welcome the opportunity to assist the residents of Kingsport with this service from our expert medical professionals."

The urgent care facility will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. No appointment is necessary.

Wellmont is also embarking on an exciting new era with occupational medicine in Kingsport. Led by Dr. E.C. Goulding, with assistance from experienced registered nurses Lisa Quillen and Stephany Wilson, the program provides a full line of services.

Full occupational medicine care is available round the clock. When the occupational medicine practice and urgent care center are closed, patients can access occupational medicine services from trained caregivers in Holston Valley's emergency department.

"This new location is an excellent chance for us to grow our services further and help local businesses and industries by providing the same high level of care at a reduced cost," said Dr. Goulding, who is board-certified in emergency and family medicine and has more than 20 years experience in occupational medicine.

"We have a proven track record of helping maintain healthy and productive employees through accident and illness prevention and an emphasis on safety. We are grateful for the trust our clients place in us as we enhance our tradition of superior care in an outstanding new setting."

Services delivered at Wellmont Occupational Medicine include care for patients with acute work-related injuries, follow-up for all levels and types of work-related injuries, drug screens, hearing testing and physicals, including those regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Wellmont Health System has operated an urgent care facility in Johnson City since 2010 and followed up by opening one in Abingdon, Va., in 2011. Both have experienced tremendous growth in numbers of patients served.

The success of those centers has been due in part to a synergy with other Wellmont services that were already in place in those communities and new ones that followed. These include the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute, Wellmont Medical Associates Family Medicine and Wellmont Medical Associates Pulmonology & Sleep.

"Wellmont Health System already has an extensive infrastructure of medical care in place in Kingsport, and the addition of urgent care will further develop the continuum of care we offer the community," said Kim Onesko, vice president and chief administrative officer of Wellmont Medical Associates. "We are also ecstatic to couple that new service with our high-quality occupational medicine program, which combines superior service with medical expertise to bring outstanding results for our clients."

Dr. Goulding will still serve as medical director of the urgent care facility in Johnson City in addition to his role in Kingsport.
