Women & Children's Expo At Bristol Regional Filled With Fun, Facts, Giveaways And Tours Of Birthing Unit
BRISTOL - Women of all ages will benefit from more than a dozen educational sessions, receive enjoyable giveaways and have a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards at the annual Women & Children's Expo.
This year's can't-miss event will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Bristol Regional Medical Center's Conference Center on the ground floor. Admission is free.
The expo will feature free bone density scans, numerous giveaways and a hallway full of medical and retail vendors with useful information and handouts. A major highlight will be tours of the Deborah H. Quillen Birthing Center, which the hospital has been renovating and upgrading in recent months.
"Our expo will give everyone a sneak peek of the new and exciting changes we have made in our birthing center thanks to the Quillen family's generous donation to Wellmont Foundation," said Kelly Jo Sexton, the unit's clinical leader. "As is the case every year, we will offer women in our region an entertaining day and provide them with an abundance of helpful information."
Educational sessions, taught by physicians and other medical professionals, will be held throughout the day. There will be 16 different sessions on topics ranging from pediatrics and pregnancy to general women's health. For every class a woman attends during the event, she will be entered into a drawing for one of five $100 Visa gift cards. A woman's chance of winning is greater the more classes she attends.
A portion of vendor sales will go to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, of which Wellmont has served as the regional affiliate for more than 25 years. All money raised locally for Children's Miracle Network stays in the area to benefit children's health. Wellmont uses proceeds to purchase equipment for its pediatric departments, neonatal intensive care unit and emergency departments and to fund community partnerships that advance children's health.
Those who attend the expo will also have an opportunity to donate to Children's Miracle Network.
