Holston Valley Co-Workers Give Back To Community, Host Charity Trunk Sale

Saturday morning garage sale aficionados plan to scour neighborhoods, find overlooked treasures and help sellers earn a little extra cash. But next weekend, they can peruse a one-stop sale that benefits the region.

On Saturday, Sept. 15, Holston Valley Medical Center will host a trunk sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in its Ravine Street parking garage. Co-workers throughout the hospital have rented parking spaces from which they will sell their used and unneeded items.

Proceeds from the space rentals will benefit Wellmont Health System’s annual employee giving campaign, which provides funds to local United Way agencies, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, cancer patients and other beneficial programs for the community and the health system. Sellers may also choose to donate their profits.

“Our physicians and co-workers do an excellent job of caring for patients at the hospital, but to truly improve wellness, we want to reach further into the community,” said Brenda White, an administrative secretary in the hospital’s radiology department and one of the event’s coordinators. “By partnering with the United Way and other organizations, we can make an even greater impact on the region.”

Holston Valley will also sell popcorn and drinks as an additional fundraiser.

The public is invited to the event, though all sellers will be Wellmont employees. To learn more, please call White at 423-224-6810.
