Dr.
Alison Whitman At Home Treating Patients In Abingdon, The Town Where She Was
Raised
It
can be comforting for patients to see a caregiver they know when they walk into
the doctor’s office.
At
Medical Associates of Falcon Place, the person they might recognize is the
physician treating them.
Dr.
Alison Whitman, an Abingdon native, has established this primary care practice
above Wellmont Urgent Care at 24530 Falcon Place Blvd. The
two-story building is located at Exit 19 off Interstate 81 next to Lowe’s.
“I
love the people that I’ve grown up with,” Dr. Whitman said. “It doesn’t even
seem like work when you’re getting to help people that you’ve been raised with.
It just seems like you’re helping friends instead of working.”
She
is familiar with Wellmont Health
System, having received some training at Bristol Regional Medical Center during her internship
and residency with ETSU Family Physicians in Bristol. With that relationship,
Dr. Whitman relished the idea of joining Medical Associates at Falcon Place,
which is a Wellmont Medical Associates practice.
Dr.
Whitman, who is board-certified in family medicine, graduated in 2004 from the
James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University.
“I’ve always known that I wanted to be a
doctor,” Dr. Whitman said. “I like taking pieces of information and putting
them together and solving the puzzle. I truly enjoy seeing patients.”
Dr.
Whitman provides a broad range of primary care to treat illness but also
focuses on preventive health care. Her practice includes pediatric care,
treatment of women’s health issues and geriatrics.
Medical
Associates at Falcon Place interacts with Wellmont Urgent Care and the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute, which is also located in the
building, to provide a continuum of care for patients. All three deliver
seamless access to each other and with other medical facilities of Wellmont
when a patient needs additional care.
Dr.
Whitman is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment, please call
