Family Nurse Practitioner Melanie Davis Joins Wellmont
Medical Associates' Gray Office
Melanie Davis has joined Wellmont Medical Associates in its Gray office as a family
nurse practitioner providing primary care.
Davis believes her most important
role as a caregiver is to listen to patients. That way, she can ensure they
receive vital preventive care, empowering them to stay healthy and active
through every stage of life.
“Through prevention, education and
early diagnosis, my patients will have better health outcomes,” she said. “I
want my patients to feel comfortable talking to me about their health concerns
so we can work together to address issues as early as possible.”
Davis will provide care for patients
of all ages – from newborns to senior adults. She conducts physicals, orders
lab work, prescribes medicine, provides referrals and health education and
performs essential preventive health screenings.
She brings more than 12 years
experience in health care to the Gray office, including the last two years as a
nurse practitioner in the region. She has also worked as an emergency room
charge nurse at hospitals in the Tri-Cities and Knoxville and completed
clinical rotations in pediatrics, geriatric care, obstetrics and family
medicine during her master’s program.
Davis received her bachelor’s and
master’s degrees in nursing from East Tennessee State University.
“I’m so pleased to join Wellmont
Medical Associates and work with a diverse group of medical providers who
improve their patients’ quality of life every day,” she said. “As the strongest
healthcare organization in the region, Wellmont Health System is focused on delivering high-quality
care with compassion. Its extensive network of specialty providers and
diagnostic services allows patients to stay close to home for their medical
care.”
Davis joins Dr. Stephen Combs and
Dr. Landon Combs, who are pediatricians, in the Gray office. Their practice was
formerly known as Gray Station Primary Care but was renamed Wellmont Medical
Associates to reflect a growing partnership between Wellmont and its integrated
physicians. Wellmont Medical Associates is a physician-led, professionally managed
organization that enables physicians to set the direction for patient care.
The combination of Davis and Dr.
Bob Connell and Dr. Rita Plemmons, both of whom practice family medicine at 316
Marketplace Blvd, Suite 20, Johnson City, provides patients who need primary
care multiple options from Wellmont Medical Associates in Washington County.
“We welcome Melanie as a fellow
member of our practice and know our patients will benefit from working with her
to meet their health needs,” said Dr. Stephen Combs, who also serves as chief
executive medical officer of Wellmont Medical Associates. “Melanie brings
extensive experience with a broad spectrum of illnesses to our practice, and
she will enhance the culture of wellness we have established in the region.”
