Allie Blackwell Joins Wellmont Medical Associates As Family Nurse Practitioner In Rogersvill

Allie BlackwellAllie Blackwell, who brings a passion for rural medicine, has joined Wellmont Medical Associates as a family nurse practitioner in its Rogersville office.

"It's helpful I grew up in a rural area in East Tennessee, so I understand the healthcare needs of people in that setting," Blackwell said. "I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with my patients in Rogersville and help them achieve optimal health."

Blackwell will build on her skill set as she practices with Drs. Amanda Dove, Amy Haynes and Liliana Murillo, all of whom are medical doctors, in the office at 405 Scenic Drive. Blackwell graduated East Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing before pursuing a master's in nursing from Belmont University.

Before joining Wellmont Medical Associates, Blackwell worked as a nurse practitioner in an allergy and asthma office and as a registered nurse. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and considers her most important duty to be caring about patients as individuals and advocating for their health.

"From a young age, I always felt like I was being called to help people, but I wasn't sure in what capacity that was going to be," Blackwell said. "Then, as I progressed through school, it became clear that serving the community as a nurse practitioner would be the best route."

Wellmont Health System's reputation locally and nationally for superior care reinforced for her that joining the practice in Rogersville would be a good professional move.

"My family and friends always had positive things to say about the care they received at Wellmont," Blackwell said. "I wanted to be a part of delivering high-quality health care."

Dr. Stephen Combs, chief executive medical officer for Wellmont Medical Associates, said Blackwell is an excellent addition to the Rogersville office.

"Allie's knowledge and training will help her patients greatly, and her love of rural medicine makes her a perfect fit for this practice," said Dr. Combs, a medical doctor and pediatrician with Wellmont Medical Associates in Gray. "She will benefit as well from practicing with a terrific team of physicians and other caregivers in that office, who are making a positive difference with our patients."

Blackwell is accepting new patients. Appointments are available by calling 423-272-2111 and more information is available at www.wellmontphysicians.org.
