Page McClanahan Joins Wellmont Medical Associates In Johnson City As Nurse Practitioner
Page McClanahan, an experienced family nurse practitioner, is joining Wellmont Medical Associates' Johnson City office.
McClanahan brings 18 years of medical care to the office, which also includes the practices of Dr. Rita Plemmons, a medical doctor, and Aimee Hurd, another family nurse practitioner. They are conveniently located at 316 Marketplace Blvd., Suite 20, which is behind Fuddruckers and near Wellmont Urgent Care.
McClanahan said she chose to be a nurse practitioner because she enjoys helping people.
"I love to hear about my patients' lives," McClanahan said. "I listen to their stories. I was taught that if you listen to your patients, they will tell you what their needs are."
Since graduating with her master's degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University, McClanahan has worked in several area offices, giving her extensive knowledge about patient care.
"I chose to work with Wellmont because they have an amazing team of providers and resources," she said. "I am very attentive to my patients' needs, and I believe Wellmont is an ideal setting to assist them."
McClanahan said she is heavily focused on preventive care, particularly as it relates to diabetes.
"I cannot encourage my patients to be proactive enough," she said. "Simple changes, such as diet and exercise, can make such a difference in their quality of life."
Dr. Stephen Combs, chief executive medical officer for Wellmont Medical Associates, said McClanahan is a wonderful addition to the Johnson City office.
"Page is warm and enthusiastic in her approach to meeting patients' needs," said Dr. Combs, a medical doctor and a pediatrician with Wellmont Medical Associates. "She attentively listens to her patients, enabling her to understand their needs and assist them in achieving optimal health."
McClanahan will begin seeing patients July 29, and appointments are available by calling 423-433-6370. Established Wellmont patients can interact with McClanahan and her office through MyWellmont, a free portal that gives them access to a significant portion of their medical record.
The primary care practices of Dr. Plemmons, McClanahan and Hurd are one of many services Wellmont Health System provides in Johnson City.
