Dr. Paul Kramer, A Gynecologic Oncologist, Creates Wellmont Medical Associates Women's Cancer Services
Dr. Paul Kramer has joined the Wellmont Cancer Institute, bringing years of expertise in treating gynecologic cancers to women in need of healing for today and hope for tomorrow.
Along with nurse practitioner Donna McDonald, Dr. Kramer has established Wellmont Medical Associates Women's Cancer Services, formerly known as Hope Women's Cancer Center.
"The cancer institute is benefitting tremendously from the addition of Dr. Kramer because he offers a very important subspecialty that enhances the quality of oncology care in our region," said Sue Lindenbusch, the cancer institute's vice president. "Our partnership will greatly assist patients by continuing to give them access to a remarkable physician close to home."
Dr. Kramer is board-certified in obstetrics, gynecology and gynecologic oncology. He specializes in gynecologic cancers, breast diseases and cancers and laparoscopic surgeries.
A gynecologic oncologist is trained in obstetrics and gynecology and has additional training in gynecologic cancers. This type of physician combines knowledge of gynecology with expertise in detecting and treating cancers of the female reproductive system.
Dr. Kramer graduated from the Medical College of Virginia and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Penn State University. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
"I'm proud to have joined the Wellmont Cancer Institute, which will enable me to continue working in a field I love while maximizing the breadth and depth of this high-quality organization," Dr. Kramer said. "Together, we will provide women the strength and hope they need to fight their cancer diagnosis."
Dr. Kramer has access to the cancer institute's full range of services, including genetic testing and counseling, clinical trials and research, nurse navigation, medical oncology, radiation and three accredited centers for breast health.
"We believe in a holistic approach to healing, and Dr. Kramer's and Donna's approach to cancer care is consistent with our philosophy of treating the body, mind and spirit," Lindenbusch said. "We're thrilled to welcome both of them to our highly trained, multidisciplinary team of providers."
