Sweet Treats At Dairy Queen To Benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
Indulging your sweet tooth will not only be acceptable but encouraged as a national restaurant chain and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals team next week for a special event to help make miracles happen.
On Thursday, Aug. 8, Dairy Queen will sponsor its annual Miracle Treat Day to benefit Children's Miracle Network. Restaurants in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia will donate $1 or more from every Blizzard sold to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. All money raised locally during the event will stay in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia to improve children's health.
Wellmont Health System has served as the region's Children's Miracle Network affiliate for more than 25 years. All money raised in this area is used by Wellmont to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for its pediatric departments, neonatal intensive care unit and emergency departments and to fund community partnerships that advance children's health.
"Dairy Queen is a long-standing partner of Children's Miracle Network, and this alliance has been vital in helping Wellmont develop even more innovative ways to enhance children's health in our region," said Todd Norris, Wellmont's senior vice president for system advancement and Wellmont Foundation's president. "The company consistently demonstrates its dedication to children's welfare, and Wellmont is grateful for its support."
Children's Miracle Network donations are raised throughout the year at multiple annual events in the region. In addition to Miracle Treat Day, the WXBQ and Electric 94.9 radiothon, IHOP's National Pancake Day and the Toys, Comic Books, Sports Cards and Collectibles Hobby Show and constant work by Walmart associates are some of the regular methods that have bolstered children's care. During the 2013-13 campaign, more than $733,000 was raised through events and other donations.
