July 27, 2017 | Greeneville, Tenn.
Takoma Regional Hospital has been recognized nationally for providing outstanding patient care and setting a high standard in clinical excellence.
The hospital received a citation of merit for the
2017 QUEST Award for high-value health care from Premier Inc., a leading health care improvement company.
“This honor recognizes the commitment of our medical professionals to deliver the best care and experience possible for our community,” said Tammy Albright, Takoma Regional’s president. “We are pleased to have received this external validation as we continue to demonstrate high-quality care.”
Only 63 hospitals were honored for achieving top performance in any four of six key areas measured in the QUEST collaborative. Takoma Regional excelled in evidence-based care, cost and efficiency, safety and prevention of readmissions. The hospital was recently honored during a Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Washington.
QUEST was launched in 2008 to help health systems reliably deliver the most efficient, effective and caring experience for every patient. About 350 hospitals volunteered to share data and define a common framework with consistent measures to continually set a top performance goal.
“QUEST hospitals have set high standards in clinical excellence nationwide,” said Madeleine Biondolillo, M.D., Premier’s vice president of engagement and delivery. “Together, they have worked to outperform in healthcare. Premier congratulates Takoma Regional for its fantastic achievements.”
The company’s participants have prevented more than 198,000 deaths and reduced health care spending by more than $17 billion, she said. QUEST is a recipient of The Joint Commission and National Quality Forum’s 2015 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award.
Takoma Regional provides a breadth of services, including cardiopulmonary care,
obstetrics, wound care, geriatric behavioral health, occupational medicine, sleep medicine, inpatient rehabilitation, corporate health and imaging.
Takoma Regional has regularly received local and national recognition. Those honors include receiving 10 A scores in patient safety from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade since 2012. The hospital also received the Women’s Choice Award in 2016 as one of the country’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics. Plus, in 2014, The Joint Commission named Takoma Regional a top performer in quality and safety for pneumonia, surgical care, stroke and immunization.
