Grainger Foundation DonationThe Grainger Foundation Supports Wellmont Foundation

The Grainger Foundation has donated $10,000 to Wellmont Foundation in support of its cancer patient assistance fund.

"This grant will be used to help diagnosed cancer patients with financial support for unplanned emergency needs, such as gas, medications and care, which can affect a cancer patient's ability to heal. They can receive assistance for expenses which are not covered by insurance or other resources," said Todd Norris, Wellmont Health System's senior vice president of system advancement. "We are grateful to The Grainger Foundation for its generosity."

Jim Wozniak, Wellmont's media relations coordinator, said some patients have to choose between buying medications, paying utility bills or having enough gas to drive to their next appointment. But through this fund, patients can concentrate on healing.

This donation was recommended by Randy Sexton, branch manager of W.W. Grainger Inc.'s Johnson City location. Grainger has been a part of the Tri Cities business community for more than 60 years as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products.

"We are proud to recommend the programs offered by Wellmont Foundation" Sexton said.  "We understand the need for superior health care with compassion."
