Wellmont Foundation brings Project Fit America to Range School
WATAUGA, Tenn. – An exercise and wellness program aligned with the Project Fit America model for health and fitness will be unveiled Thursday, Sept. 27, at Range Elementary School in Carter County.
With funding by the Wellmont Foundation through Children’s Miracle Network, Range School received the Project Fit America program, which includes state-of-the-art outdoor and indoor fitness equipment, curriculum materials and teacher training. A fitness demonstration will be offered during the opening celebration, which will be held Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Range School is located at 655 Watauga Road.
Project Fit America is a national agency formed for the purpose of developing exemplary model youth programs for cardiovascular health and fitness. Since 1990, Project Fit America’s sponsorship drive has generated $7 million in funding and resulted in the development of more than 560 exemplary school fitness programs in 250 cities in 40 states. And, as is the case with the Wellmont Foundation and Range School, the majority of program sponsors have been hospitals and healthcare providers. Wellmont Health System serves as the regional affiliate for Children’s Miracle Network.
The public is encouraged to use the Project Fit America outdoor equipment after school hours to improve the health and fitness of children.
