TAKOMA REGIONAL PLANS ANNUAL HOLIDAY BAKE AND CRAFT SALE

GREENEVILLE – Takoma Regional Hospital’s annual Holiday Bake and Craft Sale will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, near the Takoma Café on the hospital’s second floor.

Hosted by the Takoma Volunteers, the fundraiser will feature their popular Mission Bean Soup Mix, as well as homemade cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes, fudge and bread. The event gets underway at 7 a.m.

“We also will have handmade baskets and teddy bears, knitted scarves, silk flower seasonal wreathes, holiday décor items and lots more,” said Lindy Riley, director of volunteers at Takoma Regional.

The sale also will feature several hand-stitched quilts, including one titled “Breast Cancer Awareness” that includes the names of some local residents who have died from cancer.

“Each square is done by a Takoma Regional nurse manager,” Riley noted. “It’s really very moving, as well as beautiful.”

“Whisper Soft Pinwheels” is a quilt created by Lisa Faulkner, who works in the Takoma Regional materials management department, and “Turning Twenty” was stitched by Karen Tilson, Takoma Regional nurse manager.

“I really applaud the Takoma Regional family for contributing their talents and time for this fundraiser, which will benefit ongoing hospital projects,” Riley said.

The event will continue until all items are sold.
