    Intensive Care

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lee Regional Medical Center is a six bed unit that provides care to those patients who have developed or at risk for development of life threatening problems. Our unit specializes in the treatment of predominately adult population. Patients’ vital signs (heart, respirations, and blood pressure) are continuously monitored and viewed at the nursing station. Our scope of care includes acute MI’s (heart attacks), arrhythmias, temporary pacers, respiratory distress, anti-thrombolytic therapy, septic shock, and overdoses. We also receive patients from surgery that require close monitoring during the post-operative period.

Telemetry provides the patient with continuous cardiac monitoring once the patient is transferred to the medical surgical floors. The patient rooms do not have cardiac monitors, so you cannot see the rhythm in the room; the nursing staff monitors the heart rhythm from a central nursing station.
