    11/17/14 - Wellmont Health System is helping Russell County salute its veterans with a donation to support a new park the community has built in their honor. David Brash, Wellmont’s senior vice president of business development and rural strategy, presented a $1,500 check to Lebanon Mayor Tony Dodi during a brief event Thursday, Nov. 13.

    Strategic Options Process By Wellmont Board Continues To Progress, With Field Narrowed To Two

    11/10/14 - The strategic options evaluation by Wellmont Health System’s board of directors continues to make significant progress, with the field of potential alignment partners being narrowed to two. Names of the remaining health systems the board is considering cannot be disclosed due to confidentiality agreements signed by both sides early in the process. But Roger Leonard, the board’s chairman, said the contenders are a regional option and an organization outside the region, both of which are aligned with the principles the board adopted to guide its decision-making process.

    Three Leaders Who Have Helped Shape Wellmont Honored By Tennessee Hospital Association

    11/07/14 -  Three leaders who have played integral roles in Wellmont Health System's delivery of superior health care with compassion have been honored by the Tennessee Hospital Association. Dr. George Milum Testerman, a trauma surgeon at Holston Valley Medical Center, was selected as a physician recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. T. Arthur "Buddy" Scott Jr., a longtime board member for Holston Valley and Wellmont, earned the same award for board members. And Phyllis Dossett, director of clinical services at Hancock County Hospital, was chosen to receive the Nurse of Distinction award.

    11/03/14 - For years, Chris Metzger, M.D., an internationally respected cardiologist for the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute, has turned Holston Valley Medical Center’s cardiac unit into a virtual classroom. The tradition continues this week when he performs six peripheral vascular cases that will be broadcast to a medical conference in Las Vegas.
    Concert To Raise Money For Bristol Regional's Cancer Patient Assistance Fund Coming In November

    10/30/14 - To support cancer patients in need, Crooked Road General Store, which is owned by Marla Edwards, is bringing Dale Ann Bradley Bluegrass Band and Sister Sadie to Northeast State Community College’s Wellmont Regional Center for the Performing Arts Saturday, Nov. 15.

    10/24/14 - Playing Legend of Zelda, Halo, Pokémon or even Chutes and Ladders offers is not only a lot of fun but provides local residents with an innovative way to make miracles happen for children. Extra Life, a 24-hour video game marathon that benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, will be held Saturday, Oct. 25. Gamers of all types are welcome to sign up – whether they prefer personal computer, console, fantasy, live-action role play, cards or even board games.

    ETSU Students To Hold Dance Marathon To Benefit

    10/23/14 - Local college students are transforming an all-night party into a lifesaving fundraiser for the region’s sickest children. On Thursday, Oct. 23, East Tennessee State University students will hold their third Dance Marathon to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The event, held from 6 p.m.-midnight in the D.P. Culp Center ballroom, will feature live music, dancing, children’s games and free food for all registrants. It is open to the community in addition to students.
