Dr. Vardhana strongly encourages family members to be involved when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer. When family is there providing emotional and spiritual support, they can make a positive difference in a patient’s cancer management. Wellmont Medical Associates offers some of the region's most skilled and compassionate medical experts, with access to the region's most advanced cancer treatment technologies and best cancer treatment centers through the Wellmont Cancer Institute. What are you never without?Physically, I am never without my iPhone. But philosophically, I am never without my integrity and compassion for others. What do you like most about your job?I like that I get to make a difference in both the lives of my patients and their loved ones. My primary concern is always my patients, but sometimes I need to provide their families and friends additional reassurance and support that they are making the right decisions and doing all they can for their loved ones.  What alternative occupation would you choose?I’d be a chef. I cook for my family on a regular basis, and I love to barbecue. Where do you go to escape the office?I go back home to my family to escape. I have a great wife and two beautiful kids who are 3½ and 1½ back home. My family gives me something to look forward to and live for every day, because they are my future. Where is your favorite place to vacation?I love the peace and serenity of the mountains. It makes me appreciate what a beautiful area we live in, and how we need that balance of nature in our lives to ground us.
