Bristol Regional Medical Center

Bristol Regional Medical Center operates in a modern, state-of-the-art facility, but the hospital has been in service to its community for nearly a century. Bristol Regional moved to its current facility in 1994. And in 1996, the hospital joined Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport to become a founding member of the Wellmont Health System, the region’s premier health system.

Bristol Regional is committed to staying of the cutting edge of technology. The hospital was the first in the region to offer advanced treatment and diagnostic options such as the CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery System and image-guided radiation therapy for cancer patients, a digital cardiac catheterization laboratory and a 3T MRI and 64-slice CT scanner for capturing the highest-quality medical images. And in 2006, Bristol Regional became the region’s first Primary Stroke Center certified by The Joint Commission.

The hospital is also growing to meet the growing needs of the communities it serves. After years of sustained volume growth, Bristol Regional is expanding its emergency department with a 20,000-square-foot addition and additional beds. The hospital is also working with physicians to offer an array of convenient, outpatient services to the community. These services include Volunteer Parkway Imaging Center, Sapling Grove Upright MRI Imaging Center, Sapling Grove Surgery Center and Renaissance Surgery Center.

Bristol Regional, along with the other Wellmont hospitals, is a founding member of the national Safest Hospital Alliance. This organization is working to define and deliver patient safety in hospitals.

Bristol Regional is led by an administrative team, skilled physicians and community volunteers who serve as the hospital’s board of directors.
