    Biography

Adel El-Abbassi, MD, is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist with Wellmont Medical Associates Pulmonology & Sleep. Specializing in the treatment of respiratory conditions, Dr. El-Abbassi can also treat patients who need interventional pulmonology procedures to treat conditions in the lungs and chest.  How would you like to be remembered?I hope my patients remember me as the best physician and pulmonologist they’ve ever been treated by. What is most important to you when helping patients?Doing what is best for them. I put my patients first, and I make sure my team does as well. I like to make sure my patients are engaged and understand what is going on while under my care. I also like to communicate with their family members and explain everything we are doing to treat their loved one.  What alternative occupation would you choose?I would like to be a writer. When I retire, I will write books about all of my different experiences. What do you like most about your job?I like that I get to help and treat a wide variety of patients. I see the critically sick in the intensive care unit, as well as pulmonary patients with respiratory conditions. I also love to perform interventional pulmonology procedures, which makes me unique.
