    Complications during pregnancy

    Gestational diabetes

    As many as one in 10 pregnant women in the United States develop the pregnancy complication called gestational diabetes. During your prenatal care, your physician will test to see if you have developed it. In the case you have, you will be given specific instructions to keep you and your baby safe.

    High-risk pregnancies

    Most expectant mothers go through pregnancy with little or no complications. However, women with high blood pressure, diabetes, lupus or other conditions, as well as those who are carrying two or more babies, can benefit from care with a perinatologist.
