About Wellmont | Your health. Our mission.

Founded in 1996, Wellmont Health System is the premier healthcare provider in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Guided by a mission to deliver superior health care with compassion and a vision to deliver the best health care anywhere, Wellmont is more than 6,500 employees strong with hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the region.

Wellmont hospitals staff nearly 600 physicians and offer a broad scope of services ranging from community-based acute care to highly specialized tertiary services, including neonatal intensive care and two trauma centers. The system includes eight full-service hospitals, seven of which are acute care hospitals.

Critical Access

Wellmont is an operating partner with Adventist Health System at Takoma Regional Hospital and maintains clinical affiliations with two other acute care hospitals in Virginia, Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands and Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville.

An array of other facilities complement the services provided by Wellmont hospitals. Ridgeview Pavilion in Bristol offers comprehensive psychiatric services. Wellmont Madison House, located in Kingsport, provides assisted living and a therapeutic day program for frail elderly persons and mid-life adults with chronic illness. Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol offers care for terminally ill patients in a comfortable environment.

Wellmont Health System is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of physicians, business leaders and community residents. Additionally, a board of directors at each hospital provides guidance and input.

The hospitals of Wellmont Health System are accredited by the The Joint Commission. If you have any issues concerning the safety or quality of care in any Wellmont hospital, you may contact The Joint Commission at:
