Annual Golf Tournament Raises More Than $110,000 In Support
Of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
Sponsors of a recent golf tournament have bolstered the
quality of care Wellmont Health System hospitals deliver to children by
raising more than $110,000.
The annual invitational golf tournament, held Aug. 26 at The
Virginian Golf Club to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, will enable Wellmont
to purchase a replacement transport isolette for the neonatal intensive care
unit at Holston Valley Medical Center.
“This latest investment will continue to help us provide
high-quality care to the region’s children, some of whom are facing critical
health issues,” said Todd Norris, Wellmont’s senior vice president for system
advancement and president of Wellmont Foundation. “We are grateful for these many
partnerships that continue to help us make a palpable difference in children’s
The golf tournament benefited from the support of four
platinum sponsors – Dr. E.C. Goulding III of Emergency Care Physicians, as well
as JanPak, MedAssets and Navvis Healthways. There were also two gold sponsors –
EMC Corp. and Interior Concepts. The tournament attracted 111 golfers.
For more than 25 years, Wellmont has served as the regional
affiliate of Children’s Miracle Network, a national charity. All money raised
locally for Children’s Miracle Network stays in the area to benefit children’s
Wellmont uses proceeds to purchase state-of-the-art
equipment for its pediatric departments, NICU and emergency departments and to
fund community partnerships that advance children’s health.
The health system has held the golf tournament since 2008
and has raised about $665,000.
Norris said this year’s total gives the annual Children’s
Miracle Network season an excellent start.
“Wellmont is proud of the positive results it has brought
children in our region through our collaboration with Children’s Miracle
Network,” he said. “We are able to achieve successful outcomes thanks to events
such as this tournament, as well as many other fundraising efforts throughout
the year. This support continues to remind us why it is privilege to serve
communities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.”
